About Department of Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka:

As of March 2006, Karnataka has 54,529 primary schools with 252,875 teachers and 8.495 million students. Likewise, there are 9,499 secondary schools with 92,287 teachers with 1.384 million students. There are three kinds of schools in Karnataka viz. government (run by the government), aided (financial aid is provided by the government) and un-aided private (no financial aid is provided).

In the majority of these schools, the medium of instruction is either English or Kannada. The syllabus taught in the schools is either of CBSE, ICSE, NIOS or the state syllabus (defined by the Department of Public Instruction of the Government of Karnataka). The curriculum includes subjects like science, social studies and mathematics apart from language related subjects. In order to maximize attendance in schools, the Karnataka Government has launched a midday meal scheme in government and aided schools in which free lunch is provided to the students. At the end of the secondary education, the students pursuing the state syllabus have to pass an examination called as SSLC to move on to the next level.

Karnataka TET Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for Karnataka TET Exam 2017 is mentioned Below:

Minimum Qualification

For Classes I-V:

  • Pass 12th/PUS with at least 50% marks, and 2 years diploma in elementary education for becomes a class I-V teacher primary stage or B.A / B.Sc Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

For Classes VI-VIII:

  • Elementary Stage- Paper-II: Candidates want to become a teacher for classes I-VIII then they should have BA/B.Sc/B.Ed or B.Sc. Ed etc.

Age Limit:

  • Age of the candidates must be above 18 and below 40 years as per the organizational rules.

Karnataka TET Application Fee:

  • For General, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B Group category candidates only one test Rs.500/-(both Paper-I and paper-II: Rs.800/-)
  • For SC/ST/CI category candidates only one test Rs.250/-(both Paper-I and paper-II: Rs.400/-)
