About Directorate General of Civil Aviation:

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is the Indian governmental regulatory body for civil aviation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This directorate investigates aviation accidents and incidents. It is headquartered along Sri Aurobindo Marg, opposite Safdarjung Airport, in New Delhi. The Government of India is planning to replace the organisation with a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), modelled on the lines of the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Educational Qualification:

Deputy Chief Flight Operations Inspector:

  • Should have an Airline Transport Pilot’s License issued by DGCA India with current Pilot-in-Command rating on civil air transport aircraft.
  • Total experience of not less than 6,500 hours and not less than 5,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command on civil air transport aircraft.
  • Should have held the qualification of an examiner approved by Director General of Civil Aviation on civil air transport aircraft or qualified flight instructor rating in Category A from Defence services.
  • Accident free record for last 5 years attributable to his proficiency.

Desirable: Should have an Open Rating for all types of aeroplanes having all-up weight not exceeding 5,700 kgs.

Senior Flight Operations Inspector:

  • Should have an Airline Transport Pilot’s License issued by DGCA India with current Pilot-in-Command rating on civil air transport aircraft.
  • Total experience of not less than 6,000 hours and not less than 5,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command on civil air transport aircraft.
  • Accident free record for last 5 years attributable to his proficiency.

Desirable: Should have held the qualification of an examiner/ instructor approved by Director General of Civil Aviation on civil air transport aircraft or qualified flight instructor rating in Category A from Defence services. Flight Operations Inspector:

  • Should have an Airline Transport Pilot’s License issued by DGCA India with current Pilot-in-Command rating on civil air transport aircraft.
  • Total experience of not less than 5,000 hours and not less than 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command on civil air transport Aircraft
  • Accident free record for last 5 years attributable to his proficiency.

Desirable: Should have held the qualification of an examiner/ instructor/ check pilot approved by Director General of Civil Aviation on civil air transport aircraft or qualified flight instructor rating in Category A from Defense services.

Age:

Deputy Chief Flight Operations Inspector: 55 Years
Senior Flight Operations Inspector: 50 Years
Flight Operations Inspector: 40 Years

Pay or Salary:

Deputy Chief Flight Operations Inspector: The total emoluments at the beginning of the pay scale will be Rs 5,99,330 (approx) per month including allowances as are
admissible for this post.

Senior Flight Operations Inspector: The total emoluments at the beginning of the pay scale will be Rs 5,62,430 (approx) per month including allowances as are admissible for this post.

Flight Operations Inspector: The total emoluments at the beginning of the pay scale will be Rs 3,74,250 (approx) per month including allowances as are admissible for
this post.

  • In case of retired/medically unfit candidates for the post of Senior Flight Operations Inspector (Aeroplane), fixed remuneration may be as per the recommendations of the Selection Committee (not less than Rs.4,00,000/- per month).
  • In case of retired/medically unfit candidates for the post of Flight Operations Inspector (Aeroplane), fixed remuneration may be as per the recommendations of the Selection Committee (not less than Rs.3,50,000/- per month).
